France Cavalry Berry

The French are preparing for our summer battle this year for a bad render-vous with the Prussians. Last battle they lost against Frederick and the hunger of vengeance is big. The regiment of the Duc de Berry has beautiful colors and is one of the Gentleman regiment of the King. I hope they will fight well...
Wonderful miniatures of Sash&Saber...

Prussian "agents provocateurs"

Difficult to explain, but I adore this Trident miniatures with their expressive faces... I ordered this AWI Hessians and painted them as Prussians. The officer looks quite provocative, so I gave him an own little vignette and two privates as entourage. Easy to imagine how he provokes the enemy with, how to say,.. dirty words?

Prussian Hussars HR3

Prussia gets a new squadron of Hussars, this time the HR3 with their beautiful blue-and-white-combination. They are hunting Croates; here, on the picture, in Saxony-Anhalt, just near the famous "Teufelsmauer" (click to see the former post) ....
As skirmish unit, they are able to operate free and without strictly being disciplined - would be a nice view, when they are galloping together with the 4 other squadrons, each of them in individual color..
The figures are of Matthias-Manske-range.

Very ugly scenery in a Prussian village

Oh, what a terrible scenery in this Prussian village, where Russian marauders are plundering and harassing the young women behind Prussian lines!! Fortunately, a small unit of Prussian Jaegers with an elegant officer are approaching to rescue them....  The Prussian officer is quite elegant (Trident FIW range) and by origin a French (this explains his elegance..). He has no mercy..
The figures are mixed of Matthias-Maske, Trident and El Viejo Dragon.
Sorry for the x-rated pictures...

Russian Messenger and officer

This summer we plan with my nephew Anselm a big summer battle again - finally he will travel from US to Europe and we can meet for the annual wargame day at our home!
For our wargame,  we developed our own rulebook. To make a chain of orders from CinC to the regimental officer more realistic, we would like to introduce messengers. They are faster then normal cavalry in the movement and use a higher range to reach also the farest regiment on the field. But: they have to bring every new order of the CinC - that takes time and reduces the speed of orders.

We will try that in our battle to see how it works.
Here is a Russian messenger from Matthias-Manske-Zinnfiguren, placed o drop shaped base.

And this is a wonderful officer of the Trident range (a French of the FIW), painted as Russian officer.
Also his drummer is originally a French.

The blog goes on! ... with Saxon officer

Sorry for the long, too long pause in this blog...  I wasn't´t able to produce any miniature and I regret it. Now, just with the first sun rises over Bavaria announcing the spring, the table is full with figures in the queue ready to be painted...
Today, I present you the wonderful figure of Trident, painted as Saxon officer. I put him on a higher base to outline his exceptional pose.

Battle of Torgau - in 3D

This is a preflight of our Torgau 3D-visualization, built in ArchiCAD, an architect´s tool, for showing the phases of the monstrous battle of Torgau 1760. The realm is quite huge, dued to Fredericks long flanking on the left side of the map in order to attack the Austrians from the north.
We will add the disposition of the morning and the late evening, with the burning village of Süpten.

The naked landscape will get realistic textures, shadows and the troupe of Prussians and Austrians.
The final image is part of the new book of Matthias Manske about the Seven Years War.

Russian 3rd Cuirassiers

Russian heavy cavalry got some reinforcement by this splendid green-toned Cuirassiers. I am not sure, if this an original color, worn during the campaigns in the Seven Years War, but I found in the huge Vinkhuizen library a nice picture of this regiment. So, I gave them the name of the 3rd Cuirassiers. The figures are of Matthias-Manske, the saddlebags are made of paper, their details are printed in the computer. I am sorry to confess, I am not talented enough to paint such small decals by hand....

"Kirasirskii nasladnika polk" - the following regiment - whatever that means...

Russian Infantry regiment Schlisselburg

Meanwhile I finished 3 new regiments, the first of them I would like to present you today: it´s the Russian line Infantry Regiment of Schlisselburg, the very beautiful town nearby St. Petersburg.
The privates are of Matthias-Manske, the officer is a Trident jewel (AWI Hessians range).
Their summer dress were worn for the campaigns in Poland and Pomerania.
